I found this mixtape on Jay Randall's Bandcamp and wound up listening to it for a good chunk of yesterday, its a collection of fragmented lo-fi rap about everything from drugs to dimensional travel. the sound is very 90s and seems somewhat indebted to uncle howie style rappers like cage(before he quit pcp and started to suck) and necro.

NEW GENRE ALERT! Witch house is dead and its corpse is now a petri dish for new genres and movements to grow. the latest, of which(ha!) is the seasonally apropos genre of #ICEPUNK. Simultaneously a serious artistic venture and a smirking 4chan-esque parody, Icepunk merges elements of rap, sampledelica, coldwave, noise and juke with images of frozen tundras and ice sculpted bongs  to create a hazed out wintry blend of cold sonics designed to  "make you uncomfortable but expand consciousness. like wizards in fur practicing Kabbalah in their ice caves".

 the genre has already formed their own label run by gnar-as-fuck producer Party Trash and young buck pranksta Drrty Pharms. The label Sn*wflake is accepting tracks for an Icepunk mixtape set to be released in early Feb. 2012. #FuxWitIt.

This new release is strictly for hardcore noise freaks. one man noise factory (o)†hers 6 track band camp release is a dark ambient headfuck of muffled beats and vocals, augmented with lots of noise, LOTS of terrifying atonal noise. the album is a combination of vintage noise industrial and contemporary beat-oriented electronics, but all of it is red-zone distorted and slowed down to be indescribably alien and frightening.  closer track "chicks on tape' features chipmunk voiced rapping about misogynist violence and murky drum machine beats, and is the closest thing this album offers to a pop song. (o)†herly indeed. cop it here if you have a 5 spot to spend on some atonal nastiness in the vein of nurse with wound doing an urban  horror movie soundtrack.

WITCHBOY- HOLLYMODE

The aural sects crew brings us yet another journey into the weird world of post witch house electronic DIY music. Witchboy is the project of Glam-industrial genius weirdo Nikhil singh and his full length is a druggy misadventure through the dark smoggy corridors of an alternate universe city of mutant angels. broken electronic textures and heavy drum machines lay down the beat while Nikhil spits lyrics through a pitch bender about both party life and hallucinatory netherworlds. the result is a brilliant paradox of ugly glamour melding noise and pop in a way that's both slightly retro and insanely otherworldly, Hollymode is definitely worth a listen if you want your ears to  spend some time in a bleak cyberpunk world full of layers and surprises.LISTEN TO HOLLYMODE AND BUY HERE.
